Log files

PC² log files are created to record copious amounts of information sometimes useful for debugging.

Version 8 Log files

Version 8 log files are written to the current working directory.

Version 9 Log files

Version 9 files are written to the logs/ directory, one reason for this change was to un-clutter the working directory.

  • evals.log - on server, only judgements are recorded in this log file
  • pc2-startup.log - startup log file (until a client is know/logged on)

The module (team in this case) log file names were changed because if two teams were started in the same working directory (for testing purposes, for example) then both modules under Version 8 would write to pc2team.log and intermix the log messages.

Version 9 Log files have the module name, site number and client number embedded in them.

Example Version 9 log file names

Version 9 files are written to the logs/ directory.
