Version 9 History
Version 9 of PC² is a completely rearchitected implementation of the system.
Internally, Version 9 works in a considerably different (more robust, secure, and efficient) manner from Version 8. In addition, a substantial number of new features have been added to Version 9. These include reduced complexity in the way ".ini" files are used; enhanced support for network communication, a new Server GUI for better contest coordination and control, single-point administration of multi-site contests, a robust security model, and a highly flexible set of external code interfaces for writing plugins and extensions to the system.
The user interface (GUI) for the Team module remains essentially unchanged from Version 8, while the Judge module has been slightly rearranged for improved use. The Admin module GUI has been substantially altered to improve performance and make it easier to use; likewise, the Scoreboard module has undergone considerable rearrangement.
The Admin is the component which is used to configure contest information and to control the actual running of the contest. Contest configuration can be done interactively via the Admin GUI or may instead be specified via a set of Configuration Files.
